Full Description
"Situated at the eastern outflow of Loch Mor na Tanga this drystone dam runs across the neck of the outflow in a curving path for 17 metres from north to south. This feature appears to have been breached at its centre for 2 metres, though it may be intact below the current loch surface. A turf dyke runs from west to east for 30 metres from the south side of the dam along the south side of the outflow stream as it runs east towards Loch Beag na Tanga. These features are designed to ensure that a suitable head of water can be fed from Loch Mor na Tanga, through Loch Beag na Tanga - which is also dammed (49.5) - into Loch na Muilne to then feed the mills on River Torastay (49.1 and 49.2). A second dam (49.6) also crosses the Loch Mor na Tanga 35 metres to the east of this dam." (Burgess 2004, 164)
