Full Description

"Situated on the eastern shore of Tob na Muilne where it meets the southern side of Loch Erisort the remains of this blackhouse measure 18 x 5 metres and stand to a maximum height of 0.75 metres. Orientated from west to east the walls of this building survive as earthen banks topped and faced with stone. A single entrance can be seen at the western end of the southern wall. This door gave entrance into the byre or downhill end of the blackhouse. The dwelling end of the house, to the uphill (or eastern) end of the structure would have been accessed through the byre. The remains of a barn can be seen surviving as grass covered footings. This ancillary structure originally measured ca 2 x 5 metres and was located centrally against the blackhouse's southern wall. The form and proportions of this blackhouse suggest that it was constructed in the pre-crofting phase. There is some evidence that its walls have been reformed to allow it to be used for stock control, perhaps during the crofting phase." (Burgess 2004, 165-166)
