Full Description
V66 NB 16013 11099 (centre of structural complex: for details see sites V182-191). Irregular area of shielings and features consisting of clearly-defined structural remains and irregular mounds covering area of c. 70 x 50m located on higher slopes at end of glen. Probably at least 10-12 structures in all: At east, remains of at least three or four grass covered structures terraced down slope; remains of possibly three or four grass covered structures terraced on the higher slopes to the south-west and two better defined upstanding remians. One of these, (NB 16008 11108) measures c. 5 x 3m with drystone walls c. 1m wide surviving to height of c. 0.75m, with slight annex off to south and which appears to be constructed from earlier curved (?) structure using larger stones. The other (NB 16022 11106), a small stone-sided feature c. 2 x 2m constructed of drystone walls c. 0.5m wide surviving to height of 0.5m with possible entrance to south-west.
In association and constructed around a massive erratic c. 50m to north measuring at least 7 x 7m and height 7m at NB 16017 11169. Two parts of rock adapted by crude drystone walling into covered chambers or rooms with lines of drystone walling. One, 4 x 3 x 0.75m, located at the north side effectively forms a type of cave under the overhang with narrow entrance to north, the other 3 x 1.5 x 0.75m on the east side.
