What may be five roofed shieling-huts are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis, Ross-shire 1854, sheet 18). One unroofed building which may be a shieling-hut is shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 23 September 1997.
There are a wide variety of structures located on this natural outcrop, that may well represent a broad chronological span.
A well preserve stone and turf sheiling type structure incorparated on to the edge of outcropping rock. Curving inner gable wall with opposing entrances (NW/SE) and two stone niches (NB 26862 37052).
A very collapsed sub rectangular ruin (3.5 x 3m)(NB 26896 37010) located on a larger area of relitivly flat ground noticible for its grass. Several upright stones are set into the ground approxmatley 5m to the north. Just to the south of this ruin are the remains of an earlier structure, possibly a beehive type hut (NB 26890 37006).
An odd sub rectangular stone setting(approx 2 x 1) incorprating a natural outcrop. Parallel stone alignments run from single stone outcrop, slightly tapering to a triangular 'footer' type stone , orientated east / west. This does have the appearance of a possible grave marker (NB 26872 37085).
