Full Description

NB14SE 26 1960 4075

A farmstead, comprising three roofed buildings, one of which is L-shaped surrounding two sides of a courtyard, with a small unroofed structure defining the rest of the courtyard, and an unroofed building are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis, Ross-shire 1854, sheet 18). This site lies within a system of head-dykes (NB24SW 60) centred on NB 218 412.
Two roofed buildings and one enclosure are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1974).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 24 September 1997.

REPORT DATE: 23/01/2002

It seems possible that the existing L-shaped barn may be essentially the same building as that shown on the 1st edition map.
