Two phases of Dalmore township are depicted on the 1st edition OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis, Ross-shire 1853, sheet 12) comprising a pre-improvement township and a crofting township which is laid along a road. In addition an extensive system of head-dykes (NB24SW 58), which may be partly associated with these townships, lies to the S.
Both phases are completely abandoned on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis 1897, sheet 12). D Macdonald (1978) notes that Dalmore was cleared to enlarge Dalbeag farm.
Dalmore was reoccupied sometime after 1897, a new crofting township built on a different alignment and with a new road and this is shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1975).
