Full Description

NB33NE 21 centred on 3953 3841

What may be two roofed and three unroofed shieling-huts are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis, Ross-shire 1851, sheet 20), but they are not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1972) as the water level in the loch has been raised by construction of a dam.
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 24 September 1997.

A single subcircular stone built sheiling is located on a small spit of land at the loch edge, it is collapsing in to the loch due to erosion of the peat sub surface. The possible location for a second sheiling is a low grass and heather covered mound, located 15m to the SE. There are no other visible features and it is likely that anyother structure at this location was turf built.
