Full Description

A horizontal mil lay … within a concentration of glacial scree. This was apparent as a semi-circular formation of boulders, the remains of the underhouse, 5m across north to south and piled up to 1m in height. A stone lined channel ran beneath this formation to join a stream 4m to the west. The channel was of uncertain width due to numerous boulders having tumbled into, and indeed the remains were in general partially obscured by tumbled boulders, and quite difficult to discern. As evidence of the mill's existence, however, a weathered granite millstone was encountered lying on its side at the junction of the channel with the stream measuring 0.72m in diameter and 0.12m thick, with a central hole 0.15m across. Stones piled upon outcropping bedrock upstream and east of the mill might have represented the remains of a lade.
