Full Description

NG09NW 19 0380 9715

Two sub-rectangular bank-and-ditch earthwork enclosures, probably used for agriculture, are situated on a headland at the N edge of the Traigh Iar. Each measures about 30m by 30m although the northernmost is already being eroded along its N edge. Both appear to be contained within the promontory by a ditch about 80m long and 10m wide extending from an area of erosion in the N to the S. Alternatively, this ditch may be the grassed remains of an older extension to the same erosion scar. Further sub-circular bank-and-ditch earthwork enclosures (NG09NW 9) of about the same dimensions are located about 150m to the E, in the immediate vicinity of the standing stone (NG09NW 4).
