REPORT DATE: 03/05/2002
Centred on NF 6484 0012.
A low flat-topped grassy mound. On south-facing side is entrance to an underground bunker, presumably of World War II, concealed from the north and looking out over Loch Tangasdale. Mound is c. 2m above surrounding ground level, 24m long and 13m wide. Doorway leads to empty blocked-up section with modern electricity switches, but boarding conceals access to main chamber. Window now gies into chamber used as 'store'. Built of squared stone blocks set in mortaer with roof/lintels and window surround of thick poured concrete. Eroding fact to the side of the door shows distinct depths of midden deposit, especially uppermost level containing cockle shells, small stones and small fragments of leather, iron etc.
