Full Description

Bute Hospital, depicted as a large irregular roofed building within a large rectangular enclosure with four sub-divisions, entrance to north with two structures to either side, additional ancillary buildings to SE enclosure quadrant. Shown on the 6" & 25" 2nd ed Ordnance Survey map sheets (1901). The hospital was built in 1894 and later known as the Sacred Heart Hospital. It closed in 2000, the original building is now part of a care home for the elderly with modern extensions to east and west.
