22 September 1879, ASTARTE, 15 yrs old, of Southampton, wooden cutter, 53 tons, 8 crew, Master and Owner R. A. Napier, Glasgow, departed Scalpay, Harris, for Glasgow, in ballast, 8 passengers, wind SSE10, stranded, total loss, Sound of Harris, Hebrides.

ASTARTE yacht, lost in Loch Maddy, Sept. 22 last, is now sunk in seven feet of tenacious mud, and has resisted all efforts of salvors to dislodge her. Attempts to raise her have been abandoned.
