17 November 1877, JAMES A. WRIGHT, 9 yrs old, of USA, wooden ship, 1,273 tons, 18 crew, Master S. H. Morrison, Owner J. W. Marr, Bath, Me., departed Liverpool for Tybee Island, USA, in ballast, wind SW, stranded, Balshare Island, off N. Uist, Hebrides.

Lochmaddy, N. Uist, 19th Nov., 11 a.m., the ship JAMES A. WRIGHT, from Liverpool to Savonias (?South West Pass), in ballast, drove ashore on the West side of North Uist on Saturday and lies in a precarious state: crew safe: severe Westerly gales: sails nearly all lost.

Glasgow, 18th Dec., the JAMES A. WRIGHT, from Liverpool to Savannah in ballast, which went ashore on N. Uist during the gale of 17th Nov., has been sold. [Report received incomplete].

(Classified as wooden [full-rigged] ship, in ballast: date of loss cited as 17 November 1877). This vessel stranded on Balshave (?Baleshare) Island. Capt. Morrison.
