17 November 1877, JAMES A. WRIGHT, 9 yrs old, of USA, wooden ship, 1,273 tons, 18 crew, Master S. H. Morrison, Owner J. W. Marr, Bath, Me., departed Liverpool for Tybee Island, USA, in ballast, wind SW, stranded, Balshare Island, off N. Uist, Hebrides.

Lochmaddy, N. Uist, 19th Nov., 11 a.m., the ship JAMES A. WRIGHT, from Liverpool to Savonias (?South West Pass), in ballast, drove ashore on the West side of North Uist on Saturday and lies in a precarious state: crew safe: severe Westerly gales: sails nearly all lost.
