R and B Larn 1998.
REPORT DATE: 14/07/2003
This record has been amended, due to further information. This is not the wreck site of the Atlanic Proctor. This vessel was on route from Sfax, Tunisia to Iceland with a cargo of salt. The vessel was sheltering from a storm when its anchor dragged and it ran aground at the Braigh 2nd or 3rd January 1975. One crew member lost their life, during the rescue operation. The cargo was unloaded and the vessel was refloated. It appears that the vessel was still operating in 1981.
The 'Broag' reference is a misspelling of Braig.
This information is from Danish newspaper Ny Dag 3rd Jan1975 & Stornoway Gazette 11th Jan 1975.
Following a review of the Larn information it is clear this was an erroneous record for a wreck site. There is no information to indicate any shipwreck at this location.
