Stornoway, 16th Sept., severe gale yesterday from S, veering round at night with great violence to WNW, and still continues from same direction. A three-masted Norwegian schooner, Brevig to Connah's quay, is ashore on rocky ground in Sandwick bay, and full of water: crew safe.

Stornoway, 16th Sept., 11 a.m., the Norwegian three-masted schooner RINARD, of Mandal, Capt. Gabrielsen, from Brevig to Connah's quay, cargo timber, drove ashore here in a gale of wind last night: part of keel washed ashore: likely to become a total wreck.

Glasgow, 17th Sept., the EINAR (not as before reported) (3-masted schr.), of Mandal, Gabrielsen, from Brevig to Connah's quay, with timber, was stranded, 15th Sept., E of Stornoway harbour, and afterwards broke in two.

The location cited for this loss is essentially tentative. Sandwick Bay is probably to be equated with Mol Shanndabhaig.
The loss of this vessel is not noted by I G Whittaker (1998).
