16 September 1878, JULIE, 24 yrs old, of Germany, Bureau Veritas 5/6, G. 1. 1., 5 yrs, 5.78, last survey 7.78, wooden barque, 435 tons, 11 crew, Master R. Holzmann, Owner T. G. Gerloch, Memel, departed Belfast for Philadelphia, in ballast, wind W9, stranded, total loss, Bernera, Harris, Hebrides.

Stornoway, 18th Sept., the barque JULIE, of Memel, in ballast, was totally wrecked on the Island of Bernera, Sound of Harris, 15th Sept.: crew arrived here this morning.

Stornoway, 21st Sept., 8.25 p.m., the brig reported ashore at Bernera, Isle of Glass, Harris, proved to be the Prussian barque JULIA, of Memel, in ballast, bound for America: further particulars as soon as captain comes from wreck.

(Classified as wooden barque, in ballast: date of loss cited as 16 September 1878). This vessel stranded on Bernera, Harris.

This vessel was formerly attributed to Great Berneray (Bearnaraigh) [name centred NB 157 355] on the basis of its attribution by Larn and Larn. The loss was possibly reported at Stornoway (Lewis).
