1 December 1880, JANE BUTCHER, 15 yrs old, of Lancaster, Lloyd's A 1., cont.'75, 7 yrs, last survey 9.79, wooden brigantine, 177 tons, 6 crew, Master H. Kelly, Owner S. Keith, Belfast, departed Larne for Middlesbro', carrying old iron rails, wind W. by S. 9, stranded, total loss, 2.5 miles E. of Stornoway.

Stornoway, Dec. 1, 12.20 p.m., JANE BUTCHER schooner, Kelly, from Kingstown for Middlesborough (railway iron), struck on a rock and sunk in six fathoms off Holm Island this morning: prospect of saving cargo.
