4 May 1881, IVY HOLME, new, of Maryport, Lloyd's 100 A1., last survey 4.81, iron steamship, 98 tons, 8 crew, Master J. Connell, Owner W. Hine, Maryport, departed Sunderland for Dublin, carrying coal and 2 passengers, wind E9, foundered, total loss, 12 miles S.E. of Butt of Lewis, North Minch.

Stornoway, May 5, 3.7 p.m., IVY HOME, screw steamer, of Maryport, Connell, from Sunderland for Dublin (coals), is reported foundered off Butt of Lewis, this morning: crew picked up by a fishing boat and landed here. [Record received incomplete].
NMRS, MS/829/69 (no. 3034).
(Classified as iron steamship, with cargo of coal: date of loss cited as 4 May 1881). This vessel foundered 12 miles SE of the Butt of Lewis. Capt. Connell.
