1 October 1882, JOHANN BENJAMIN, 22 yrs old, of Germany, Bureau Veritas, 5/6, G.1.1., for 6 yrs from 5.82, last survey 5.82, wooden barque, 422 tons, 11 crew, Master R. Hamann, Owner Ramisch, Schwedersky and Co., Memel, departed Archangel for Liverpool, carrying deals and battens, wind SSE10, stranded, total loss, Seaforth Island, Hebrides.

JOHAN BENJAMIN, Hansen, from Archangel for Liverpool, which went ashore on Seaforth Island, Oct. 1, lost her foremast, and cut away her mainmast, after grounding: the vessel fills with every tide, and the cargo will have to be discharged to get her off. (Stornoway, Oct. 4).

JOHAN BENJAMIN, German barque, from Archangel for Liverpool, which was wrecked Oct. 1 at Seaforth, Lewis, was sold by auction at Stornoway yesterday, and realised £20 for the hull and £120 for the materials. (Glasgow, Nov. 21). [Record received incomplete].

(Classified as wooden barque, with cargo of deals and battens: date of loss cited as 1 October 1882). This vessel stranded on Seaforth Island. Capt. Hamann. (On an island 8 miles from Loch Seaforth).
