18 May 1884, CUPIDO, 3 yrs old, of Sweden, Bureau Veritas, 3/3, G.1.1., for 10 yrs from 9.81, wooden schooner, 129 tons, 6 crew, Master C. Lindquist, Owner G. Grevilli, Mariestad, Sweden, departed Malmo for Campbeltown, carrying barley and one passenger, 2 lives lost (master and passenger), wind squally, stranded, total loss, Island of Harris, Western Hebrides.

CUPIDO. Glasgow, May 21, 9 35 a.m. The brigantine CUPIDO, of Gothenburg, Captain Lindquist, from Malmo for Campbeltown, capsized 18th inst., off island of Skye. Captain and wife drowned: rest of crew saved and landed in Glasgow. Consul took charge of them.

Stornoway, May 23, 11 47 a.m. A schooner is ashore at Kylestockinsh: derelict vessel reported, almost bottom up, no trace of crew. Have sent agent to endeavour to identify.

CUPIDO. Tarbet, Harris, May 24, 8 a.m. Vessel stranded at Kylis Stockinish has been identified through papers washed ashore, as the CUPIDO, of Vesterlanda, cargo barley, from Malmo for Campbeltown. No trace of crew. Will report further on seeing vessel's condition at low water to-day.
