30 January 1854, BLIGH, of Wick, schooner, 97 ton, 6 men, Limerick to Glasgow, oats, wind WNW force 9, thick with snow showers, value #700, cargo #1,000, total loss. On Isle Taransa, the west side of Harris, Hebrides, by stress of weather. Crew saved. Lloyds List. Shipping and Mercantile Gazette. Coastguard Officers.

Stornoway, 3rd Feb. The BLIGH, Elder, from Limerick, was totally lost on the West side of Harris, on the 30th Jan.; crew saved. A ship's name board, marked 'MADDOCKS, of Liverpool' with several pieces of wreck and a quantity of [record received incomplete].

NMRS, MS/829/67 (no. 502).

(Classified as wooden schooner with cargo of oats: date of loss cited as 29 January 1854). This vessel was wrecked on the Island of Taransa, west side of Harris.
