15th March 1860, BERTHA, brig, 110 tons, 6 crew, carrying salt, stranded, total loss, 5 lives lost, wind NW 9, Eoligary, Barra.

North Uist, 28th Mar. The BERTHA (Norw. schr.), Nielson, from Belfast, with rock salt, was driven on the rocks on the west side of Coligary [Eoligary], Island of Barra, during the night of 15th Mar., and broke up in a few hours: crew, except the master, drowned.

Possibly on map sheet NF60NE. Eoligarry Sands are not noted as such on the 2001 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map. Whittaker suggests a location 'on the west side of Eoligarry'.
