Vatersay/Bhatarsaigh [name centred NL 64 95].

UNKNOWN, derelict, broken up on Sandeara [Sandray] Island, laden with paraffin oil, 100 casks saved, marked Black Brothers, Philadelphia, and N.W. in interlaced diamonds. Supposed to be a vessel, about 150 tons, at first nothing seen but a mast, afterwards the vessel broke up, and the wreck was strewed among rocks, ground to fragments. Found on the West side of Sandra [Sandray] and Watersay [Vatersay], Island of Barra, 8th January 1866. Further description of markings on the cargo barrels (and the fact that most of it was stolen by locals) are given in the source documents. Wrecking in the Hebrides.
