26 March 1896. J.A. GOOD, 8 years, not reg. wood lugger. 7 ton. 6 men. Master and owner J. McLennan, Fivepenny Ness, Lewis. Ness to fishing. Ballast. Collided un-reg. fishing boat PROSPERITY. Wind WNW9. Ness Bay, island of Lewis.

(Classified as wooden lugger, in ballast: date of loss cited as 26 March 1896). This vessel was in collision and sank in Ness Bay.

Ness Bay is not noted as such on the 1997 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map. The name presumably applies to the bay in front of Port Nis.
