22 January 1888. DANZIG. 8 years of Germany. B Veritas 1 Div 3/3 A1.1 from 6/84 survey 4/87. Iron steamship. 553 ton. 16 crew. Master Gohrbrandt. Owner A. Gibsone, Dantzig [Gdansk]. Dantzig [Gdansk] to Campbeltown. Barley. Wind 2. Near Uia Island, Benbecula.

(Classified as iron steamship, with cargo of barley: date of loss cited as 22 January 1888). This vessel stranded near Uia (possibly Wiay) Island.

The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary, being derived from the location cited by Whittaker. The loss may have occurred in the Atlantic, rather than the Minch. Wiay or Fuidhaigh island is centred at NF 87 46.
