22 June 1884, MINERVA, 4 yrs old, of Germany, Bureau Veritas, II Div., from 6.80, last survey 2.83, iron S.S., 190 tons, 11 crew, Master T. Jurgensen, Owner F. M. Bruhn, Flensborg, departed Runcorn for Lerwick, carrying salt, wind WSW5, stranded, total loss, Griadach Rock, Scalpay Island, Western Hebrides.

MINERVA (s). Stornoway, June 23, 10 20 a.m. The German steamer MINERVA, of Flensburg, Jurgensen master, Runcorn for Lerwick, cargo salt, has gone ashore on a rock near Glass Light. Bottom reported seriously damaged. Lloyd's Agent arranging to send assistance. Position exposed.

(Classified as iron steamship, with cargo of salt: date of loss cited as 22 June 1884). This vessel stranded on Griadach Rock, Scalpay. Capt. Jurgensen.

Griadach Rock is not noted as such on the 1997 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map, unless it is to be equated with Aird Riabhach [name: NG 240 965].
