Full Description
NG19NW 8002 unlocated
Stornoway, Thursday night. The weather still continues stormy here, with occasional squalls of hurrican force. In Harris scarcely a fishing boat is left undamaged. At Graver, 20 miles from here, a large decked herring boat, named the ANN MOORE, was carried out to sea and never seen again, and nine cod and herring fishing boats were broken into pieces. At Wild Point four boats were destroyed: three boats at Valsted and six at Tolsta were more or less damaged, and some of them destroyed. There is no account from Uig, but at Ness the boats all escaped. In Lewis nearly 100 boats were more or less damaged, and in some cases completely destroyed.[Record received incomplete].
NMRS, MS/829/70 (no. 5280).
The map sheet assigned to this record is arbitrary. Graver cannot be located from the available map evidence, and it is unclear whether the vessel was lost on the Atlantic (West) or North Minch (East) side of the island.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998).
