Full Description

NF77SW 8002 unlocated

Greenock, 31st Oct., on the West coast of Uist, wreckage marked "ISMAILIA" is reported coming ashore, supposed to be from the Anchor Liner of that name reported as missing in December last.
Source: Shipping Intelligence, LL, No. 18,887, London, Tuesday November 3 [1874].
NMRS, MS/829/70 (no. 4178).

(Classified as steamship, with general cargo: date of loss cited as September 1873). This vessel left Glasgow for New York on 30 September 1873, and was spoken too on the 2 October. Capt. Ovenstone.
Wreckage on the West side of Uist.
I G Whittaker 1998.

The map sheet and quasi-administrative are assigned to this area are arbitrary, being derived from the reported location of discovery of wreckage. The vessel presumably foundered out at sea, probably beyond Scottish waters.
Whittaker cites this loss under two entries, but the equation originally suggested is here accepted.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 21 September 2004.
