Glasgow, 16th Apl., advices from Stornoway state that a handspike with the name "LOCH EARN" has been picked up near the Butt of Lewis, and that a buoy marked "FEDE" has been cast ashore on the Lewis coast.
Source: Shipping Intelligence, LL, No. 18,717, London, Saturday April 18 1874.
NMRS, MS/829/70 (no. 4112).
The map sheet assigned to this record is entirely arbitrary, being derived solely from the location of discovery of wreckage. It is unclear whether this vessel was lost on the W (Atlantic) or E (North Minch) side of the island.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), and may have occurred beyond Scottish waters.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 30 June 2004.
