Full Description

NB35NE 8029 unlocated

Stornoway, 6th Feb., part of a nameboard, with the letters "T.3, STIRLING", was washed on shore at Loch Hamnway, West side of Lewis, on 27th Jan..
Source: Shipping Intelligence, LL, No. 19,594, London, Saturday February 10 1877.
NMRS, MS/829/70 (no. 4610).

The map sheet assigned to this record is entirely arbitrary, being derived solely from the reported location of discovery of wreckage. The location of Loch Hamnway cannot be established from the available map evidence.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), and probably occurred out in the Atlantic, possibly beyond Scottish waters.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 30 June 2004.
