Full Description

Recent high tides and stormy weather have partially exposed these structures. A curving stone wall with three coarses and an apparent pillar close by, extensive archaeological layers comprising of red soils & midden material ( animal bone, shell) are present on both sides of this exposure. Unlike the nearby wheelhouse to the south east, these structures are located at beach level.

Recent high tides and stormey weather have eroded these deposit further, revealing what appears to be three attached stone structures. The initial interpretations from NW to SE are internal curving walls attached to extenal curving wall, this appears attached to a linear wall with a curving interal wall at the other end; just beyond this are the remains of a wheelhouse now much eroded. The length of this exposure is approximatley 20m. The deposits here at the time of the visit were approx 1.75m with several metres of machair sand above this; however it should be noted that the archaeological deposits ran on below the beach deposits.
