Full Description

Feature H:
this feature is recorded on the 1st ed (1881) six inch map, and can be seen on the ground extneding from NB 0695 0665 at its west extent, to NB 0702 0668 at the east edn.
Around 80m length of the wall is preserved and it is constructed from a double wall with rubble core. The foundation stones are large, angular lewisian gneiss blocks, embedded in the turf, with only one or two courses surviving above this to a height of up to 0.3m, and 0.8m wide at the most. The east end of this section of walling possibly extneds below the modern earthworks to the front of the easternmost dwelling house. There are occasional isolated stone surviving between the two houses, although modern development has removed most traces of the wall in this area. The wall continues further to the east outwith the survey area, as recorded on the 1st edition map.
