Full Description

4.1/4.2 Earthen banks
Earthen banks following the line of the burn can be seen at various points … The examples here are entirely made of earth, containing no stone, and were made in a single act and never significantly repaired. This is clear from the most prominent section of dyke, where it can be seen tha a dark layer of peat is only present under the footprint of the dyke, due to the excavation of earth from both sides for its construction. It is clear that heither these ditches not the dyke itself have been subject to any futher subsequent activity. Further to this, the lack os slumping earth in the ditches indicates that the dykes are not of any great age.
