Full Description

9: NB 3552 2144. At this location there is an area of rig and furrow and four poortly constructed buildings, two of which overlie earlier and in one instance larger buildings. Of the four structures, the northernmost (building 1 NB 35532 21516) comprises a later structure, poorly constructed from medium sized undressed stones in irregular courses up to 0.8m in height by 0.5m wide. This structural element appears to be a rudimentary corral or stock enclosure measuring 10m x 6m overall. This in turn overlies an earlier rectangular structure characterised by low grass covered banks 0.2m in height and 20m in length by 6m wide with a possible entrance on the SE gable end. Building 2 (NB 35541 21500) comprises a later, roughly horseshoe or U shaped structure aligned NNW by SSE, measuring 7m x 5m witn an enatrance on the NW end with walls up to 0.8m thick. This structure has two compartments, and overlies the remains of an earlier rectangular structure, Building 3, aligned ENE by WSW measuring 9m x 5m with walls approx. 0.5m wide. Little of this structure has survived other than the outline.
Building 5 comprises a square building, upstanding to apprx. 1m in height. The walls are poorly constructed and unevenly coursed. It is assumed that this building comprises a stock enclosure. Overall, the building measures approx. 4m x 3m, with an entrance on the southern side and walls 0.5m thick. Immediately south of building 4 there is an area of rig and furrow approx. 65m x 15m aligned NW-SE.
