Full Description

Human remains were reported to the police & Archaeology Service by a member of the public 10th April 2009.
Historic Scotland commissioned an archaeological evaluation carried out by C.Knott, Lews Castle College UHI.
Excavation established that the burial comprised of a rough stone lined cist, orientated SW/ NW with only the upper part of the burial remaining.
The burial appears to have been a fully extended inhumation, with the head lying on its right side; however the body lay twisted at a 45° angle. The tilting of the body may have been the result of the narrowness of the cist.
No artifacts were associated with this burial.
A potential date for this burial is likely to be Iron Age.
