Full Description

Extensive shell midden deposits in an eroding section, approx 10m in length, 0.4m depth.
The midden was covered by a layer of stones before being covered by a substancial machair sequence.
Radiocarbon dating of charred hazelnut shells from the main body of the midden date the accumulation to 6.5-6.1 cal BP.
It is suggested that this site along with other middens at the base of Cnip headland represent a late Mesolithic landscape.
