Full Description
A possible chambered cairn consisting of a linear mound, with an alignment of upright stones to the west. The site is oriented east/west. The mound is and 24 m long and 20 m wide. It is approximately 2 m high on the south, and 4 m high on north, where the ground is lower. It is heather-covered, with cobbles and small boulders visible where the peat has eroded on the southern side. The mound slopes gently down to the west, where a series of upright boulders and slabs protrude through the peat. Here, ten stones are visible, standing up to 0.5 m high, and up to 0.7 m across. The stones are widely spaced, the largest possibly being set in a linear arrangement, extending 6 m north/south, and 15 m east/west. The site lies below the summit of Criongrahbal, and has extensive views to the north, north-west, and north-east. It is bisected by a fence, and is surrounded by peat cuttings. It also lies 160 m from the quarry to the east. The site is likely to be the truncated remains of a chambered cairn.
