Full Description

A large rectangular blackhouse orientated N/S, comprising of a heavily overgrown drystone wall, set into the surrounding ground level; its dimensions are approx 15m x 7m, max internal height 1.1m . From the southern end, the wall is approx 0.8m thick; however 3/4 of the way along the wall the thickness reduces in width to approx 0.3m. This may represent a dwelling (southern end) with an attached enclosure (northern end) as is represented on the 1st ed 6" OS map; however there is no indication of a dividing wall internally. Additionally William Balds Map of Harris (1805) shows a settlement at this location. It seem highly likey that this ruin is one of the pre-crofting buildings depicted on the 1805 map.
There are deep cultivation ridges in the adjacent lower ground to the west of this structure, also heavily overgrown.
