Full Description

Large blackhouse incorparated into natural rock outcrop. Extensive lazy beds surround this building and potentially predate it, additionally a boundary dyke directly to the west appaers to also post date the lazy beds. These pionts are worth following up with a site visit.
William Balds Map of Harris (1805) shows a settlement around this small bay. The 1st ed 6" OS map (1878) shows a large unroofed building at this location with numerous other small unroofed buildings in the general area.
This site has the potential to give greater insight into the pre-crofting arrangement of land in this area.
