Full Description

A small blackhouse shaped building sitting on a raised overgrown grassy area with a possible smaller byre type structure at its SE end. The site is located high up on the rolling moorland with a SE aspect sloping towards the coast. This structure comprises of stone and turf with an entrance at the northern end of the NE elevation. Although not visible during the visit, AP's clearly show a field system surrounding this raised areas. Irregular curvi linear rigs are present within an irregular triangular boundary. The dimensions of the house are 7 x 5m and the byre structure 5x4m.
These ruins appaer to be the last phase of occupation on this site, the mound on which they sit indicates earlier activity occurred on this site.
Another interesting aspect of this site is its name , a mixture of Norse and Gaelic, possibly indicative of the origins of the site.
