Full Description

Grassy mound situated along the edge of a road that connected Stornoway to the coast at Traigh Thunga, now currently a farm track and located inside a field boundary.
The upper part of the well shows material that relates to the relitively recent past (concrete components); however an earlier phase of drystone lining was noted below this.
The well is depicted on "A Plan of the Harbour Bay & Town of Stornoway" (1785) and later on the 1st ed 6" OS map (1849) where it is annotated 'Seaforth Well'.
