Full Description

A cluster of three sheilings associated with a small escarpment, with other less obvious structures also noted. These features comprise of two sub rectangular drystone sheilings, with opposing entrance openings. Both structures are ruinous with approx dimensions of 6m x 4m with a height of 0.5m. One of these sheilings is located away from the cliff and on the opposite side of a boggy watercoarse. The rest of the features are closely grouped together along the base of the escarpment. In addition to the drystone sheiling, there is a sub rectangular stone & stone a turf structure (presumibly another sheiling?) and several other features visible as set stones of a small circulular enclosure and a row of parallel set stones that may indicate a building. These additional features give the impression of possibly pre-dating the two drystone sheilings. Additionally the name of the loch and escarpment maybe indicative of the period of the sites establishment.
These structures are not represented on any of the Ordnance Survey map sheets.
