Full Description

A large oval mound located midway up southern facing peat & heather covered hillside with good views to east, south and west. Approximate dimensions - 18m x 23m, height 1.5m.
Three later stone walled sheilings are aligned E/W along the top of the mound. All are sub rectangular in shape, 3m wide and between 4 & 6m in length. All have opposing door openings to north and south elevations. The eastern end of the mound shows signs of other disturbances in terms of possible gullies and uneven ground (remains of turf structures?). Occaisional large stones are noted around the perifory of the mound with one notible upright to the north east.
On the south side of the mound, below the the sheilings is a single circular stone building 4m in diameter. A single stone from this structure is notible as it has evidence of a carved basin on it. This object look like a saddle quern apart from it is rough and not smooth.
This green grassy mound stands in stark contrast to the surrounding moorland and is likely to have it origins in the Neolithic.
