Full Description

A small settlement located close to the the township boundary between Nunton and 'Greinish'; the purpose of which requires further clarity. Balds map of 1805 depicts two buildings located at the end of the track from Nunton. One building has an 'L' shape plan with an attached enclosure. The second building is rectangular with a channel shown running from the loch to the east to the building in the west ; possibly indicating a mill lade.
The 6" 1st ed Ordnance Survey map sheet (1878) shows one 'L' shaped roofed building annotated 'Free Church'. Three other unroofed buildings and an enclosure are also depicted. North of the township boundary a well and additional building are also seen.
