Full Description

Ruins of a substantial farmstead located in a raised position on a prominent hillside. The buildings comprise of a blackhouse style structure of stone and turf construction with parallel attached byre. Entrance is to the north elevation. Dimensions for overall structure 11m x 19m, house internal dimensions approx 4m x 16m. The farmstaed is within a large enclosed area, the boundary is represented by a turf dyke. This surrounds the upper areas of the hillside and runs down to the loch in the west, at its northern and southern extents. A large area around the house to the north, east and south is represented by lazybeds.
The 6" 1st ed Ordnance Survey sheet (1849) indicates the farmstead, area of cultivation and boundary pretty much as the site remains today. The buildings are roofed and site is annotated 'Scapraid'.
