Crash landing site for a Boeing B-17, of the 327th Bomb Squadron on the 7th May 1943. This aircraft was on route from North America via Iceland to England, poor weather resulted in this plane flying to the limit of its fuel capacity, the pilot electing to carry out a controlled landing near Brenish; the aircraft belly landed on the bog with only limited damage. All crew survived. A temporary trackway close to Brenish school was constructed to enable the complete recovery of this aircraft.
