Full Description

Crash site for a Consolidated Liberator B-24. On the 15th September 1943 this plane was on route from Canada via Iceland to Belfast. During deteriorating weather conditions this aircraft flew in to the hillside, resulting in the lose of all aircrew.
Crash site is located at the head of a small burn, with hillside showing scar through lack of vegitation. The site comprises of extensive melted metal fragments with larger elements comprising of undercarriage, part of the fuselage panelling and a wing section. A memorial stone is located just above the site. Other smaller elements of the aircraft are scattered to the north east with a secondary scarred area at the base of outcropping rock.
