Full Description

An isolated circular green grassy mound with heather and medium / large stones in it . This feature is located on the east facing slope of Beinn á Chaolais and sits above a small tributary of the Abhuinn Dubh. The top of the mound comprises of a small sub rectangular arrangement of stone which may represent a sheiling. Stones are visible over the rest of the mound, however some of these may be the result of tumble. Stones around the base of the mound give the impression of a kerb and are only visible on the southern & eastern sides. In general this mound of grass & stone stands out in the surrounding environment of boggy moorland grass with occaisional rock outcrops. The feature on the top of the mound is likely to result from the reuse of a pre-existing structure. This mound may have its origins in prehistory and may represent a burial monument. Dimesions are approx 11m diameter x 1m height. The site is in stable condition.
