Full Description

NL58SE 6 5653 8330 and 5653 8343.

(NL 5653 8330 - sited on 6" plan accompanying letter). Iron Age potsherds, found near the surface in May, 1959 by Mrs. V. Pritchard, Cambridge, were donated to the National Museum of Antiquities, Scotland. (HR 1212- 1214). A gale during the previous winter may have uncovered them or even shifted them from elsewhere.

This find spot could not be located. Drifting sand covers most of the area.

NL 5653 8343 - Upwards of 200 fragments of IA pottery (2nd-3rd c. BC) - some with rims & cordoned ornament - found here in August 1971 during a survey of the island (Information from A Philips, Engineering Faculty, University College, London) No evidence of settlement.
