Full Description

NL58SE 9 5654 8342 and 5659 8335.

A. NL 5654 8342:- Situated in an area of blown sand and rock outcrops are the remains of two enclosures.
The first consists of a circle of vertical slabs about 4.0m in diameter with 2 orthostats in the SW quadrant presumably representing an entrance.
2.0m to the S, the tops of about six slabs protrude from the sand, forming a semi-circle with similar dimensions to its partner.
With the close proximity of the IA midden (about 10m to the NW) it is possible that these enclosures represent the remains of hut circles.
B. NL 5659 8335:- Situated in an area of rock outcrop with erratics are two enclosures.
The first consists of a levelled area enclosed by upright slabs utilising erratic blocks, giving a diameter of about 4.1m. A slight revetment is visible on the downhill side.
5m to SW is a similar enclosure, not so well-defined and measuring about 3.8m in diameter.
These enclosures possibly represent the remains of hut circles.
Visited by OS (D W R) 29 August 1973.
